Today I am sharing one of my favorite recipes. I started making these homemade protein bars a few years ago for my husband when he became interested in living a healthier lifestyle. I love baking and cooking! It is something that makes me so happy (although I hate the dishes afterwards!). So when he began leading a healthier lifestyle, I was so sad that I couldn’t bake him peanut butter cookies and cake and butter filled foods.

But then I realized….there has to be a way to still bake and cook for him. With that, I became determined to support him on his path to health by cooking and baking much healthier foods! This recipe is one of the first things I made for him that we both fell in love with. He considers these protein bars to be more of a snack or treat for him.

They are SO delicious and most importantly….super easy to make. Here are the directions:

What you’ll need:

1/4 cup of honey

1 cup of chunky peanut butter

1 1/2 cups minute oats

1 Scoop of chocolate protein

Half a bar of dark chocolate

Instructions:

Put the honey and the chunky peanut butter in a pot on the stove top. Put on low and stir frequently until the mixture is melted and smooth.

Take the mixture off the burner, add the oats and protein powder. Stir the mixture until well combined (You can add a little bit of water if the mixture isn’t combining well).

Transfer the mixture to a pie pan or 9X9 baking pan. Using your hands, flatten the mixture until the bottom of the pan can’t be seen and the top is level.

Next, melt the dark chocolate and pour over the pan of deliciousness. Finally, pop the pan in the freezer for about 10 minutes.

 

Pull back out, cut, serve, and enjoy!
